Day 120: Grocery Shopping

April 30, 2011
The end of the semester is nearing, and I still had almost 250 meal points (we're supposed to be at 140 by this Monday). So I invited my family to come by and do some grocery shopping at Bear Market. The resulting amount, as you can see, was almost $100 worth of groceries! And now I am officially on track. Bring it dead week!

Day 119: Ominous Signs

April 29, 2011
Today was the last day of classes. My days as a college freshman are coming to a close. Coincidentally, today my lanyard case decided to crack. I can't carry my ID around anymore. But then again, all upperclassmen keep their IDs in their wallets. Only freshmen have their IDs on lanyards. It's a sign; I'm getting old.

Day 118: Golden Ticket

April 28, 2011
Today was my last day of Thursday classes for the semester. To finish off the day (before Elevate practice), I had my final project presentation for my fairy tales DeCal. I think it went well, and everyone liked my presentation. This one guy did his on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and passed out Pixie Sticks and Laffy Taffy. Additionally, following his discussion on the meaning of the Golden Ticket in society, he told us one of our chairs was a winner (meaning had a "golden ticket"). I checked and didn't find one, but he told me mine had the ticket. As a reward for finding the ticket, I was given a box of Everlasting Gobstoppers. And no, I don't need to return this. I won fair and square.

Day 117: Pineapple Runway

April 27, 2011
The title reminded me of an Owl City song. I was working at a friend's dorm when I realized that there was this huge pineapple occupying her window sill. Not something you really expect to see in college dorm room. But it made for a great photo. I just got back from a four-hour Elevate practice. Hoping this week flies by, because it hasn't been.

Day 116: Mucho Good

April 26, 2011
I really love Mucho Mango Arizona Iced Tea. I wasn't lying when I said we'd be best friends by the end of this year. My dad even bought me a pack of these to take back with me to the dorms. I auditioned for AiR today, and afterwards, we went to grab dinner. And I couldn't help but buy a can of this.

Day 115: Confusing Refuge

April 25, 2011
I was very sleepy and tired today. Additionally, I have to worry about homework, quizzes, and presentations for this week. You can probably imagine the look on my face when I saw this in one of the dorm buildings. What does this even mean? Irony, since it's located by stairwell?

Day 114: Shoreline Excursion

April 24, 2011
Another double post! Spent the day at Point Reyes with the family. We always seem to leave the house because we need to (shopping, school, etc), but it was nice to leave the house just because we wanted to. Driving past all these quaint towns, driving through the tranquil countryside, walking along the windy but breathtaking shoreline, exploring an antique lighthouse, whale-watching, it was quite a trek. I love these adventures, they're something else. I can't describe it any other way: it was fun.

Day 113: Mirror, Mirror

April 23, 2011
The following day, my parents decided my sister could also use a room switch-up. This was her face when she walked into her disarrayed room. Cleaning took even longer. But, now our rooms are the fairest in the land. We don't need a mirror to tell us that.

Day 112: Old Toys

April 22, 2011
I asked my parents about rearranging my room, for variation and since I'll be living in my own room next semester. What I had intended to be a summer project became a weekend cleaning. I'll post a picture of my new room when I clean everything in the summer. To amplify my space, I decided to send a lot of things down into the garage, including this adorable circus elephant that I used to play with as a toddler.

Day 111: New Times

April 21, 2011
My birthday present from the parents. My old watch (which looks almost identical to this one) was literally falling apart. It wasn't a gift out of luxury. It was a gift out of need. It was weird getting through a week without having a watch on..

Day 110: Old Habits

April 20, 2011
Pikachu. I've been waking up to this all semester. In fact, I've been waking up to this Pokemon since I was in Kindergarten. I actually hope to be waking up to this for a many more years to come. Especially since all the new Pokemon are whack.

Day 109: Keep Reaching

April 19, 2011
They tell me to reach for the impossible, but I always end up reaching for pure nonsense. Is that such a bad thing? On a different note, that's a Trolli Egg, one of my newest guilty pleasures.

Day 108: Health Challenge

April 18, 2011
I just signed up to take part in the Pac 10 Well U Challenge, offered at a number of universities aiming to help students better their lifestyles (in all aspects). On my first diagnostic, I got a C grade on my physical health, so I'm going to focus on improving that grade. For starters, I'm going to start making time for breakfast. As ridiculous as this sounds to me, I want to be fit (really fit). So let's see how far this goes.

Day 107: Cake Thief

April 17, 2011
My friends got me this beautiful (and supposedly great-tasting) cake from Crumbs Bakery in Rodeo as a late birthday gift. However, because of the Diddy Riese, I took the cake home in a to-go box, where my mom ate the entire thing while I was taking a nap. I was pretty upset. As an apology, she went out and bought three smaller cakes (cheesecake, tiramisu, and some sort of chocolate cake). How could I resist Paris Baguette?

Day 106: Hilarious Commandments

April 16, 2011
There's a really funny story behind this hilariously "angry potato head." My friend at UCLA gets a kick out of this one. It was great catching up and telling funny stories. What was also fun was eating sushi and Diddy Riese with some awesome friends that night. Obey the Five Commandments! A little extreme for some 19-year-olds, no?

Day 105: New Beaches

April 15, 2011
I spent the night at a friend's place in UC Irvine, this weekend being part of my birthday week. We stayed up until five in the morning playing deuces, and the very next day was spent on longboards and at Corona del Mar in Newport Beach. This was quite something. It didn't feel like I was in SoCal, but more like the Mediterranean. It was nice being back at a beach again.

Day 104: Hind Sight

April 14, 2011
I am now 19. Spent lunch with some close friends, and dinner with the parents. Amidst all the happy birthdays greetings, presents, and partying, what does it all mean? It's just a number; your age doesn't define who you are. These eyes have looked the same, and have been seeing the same things, since when I was just a baby. Everything, still, is undefined and unfathomable. Blurry. It's hard to say what will come next.

Day 103: Best's Gift

April 13, 2011
Must dedicate this post to Stephy. She sent me this in the mail and called me at exactly midnight (her time) to wish me happy birthday. Words can't describe how much I appreciate her for being there for me. I'm truly grateful to have a best friend like her. On a side note, look at their legs! Steph knows me so well. I've seen some ugly SNSD posters, but I absolutely love this one! They look HOT.

Day 102: Doodling Infinity

April 12, 2011
I usually doodle in class anyway, so I might as well doodle with an educational flair, right? These are called Apollonian Gaskets, fractals that represent infinite series. For every circle that is drawn, an infinite amount of space appears for an  infinite amount of circles, each getting smaller and smaller. It puts into perspective "how dense infinity is," as quoted by the Youtuber who inspired me to draw these in the first place. Now if I could only draw better-looking circles..

Day 101: Too Sweet

April 11, 2011
A late-night caramel freddo from The Den as a reward for finishing math homework. I thought it would be good. And it was good, but only for the first couple sips. It then just got extremely sweet and unbearable. I still stand by unfortunate fact that I have a weak sweet tooth. And I thought a medium would suffice. I want to gag just looking at this photo.

Day 100: Visions Unseen

April 10, 2011
The hundredth day of 2011 is already here, and I'm still strong on this blog! Taking pictures helps me see what is invisible to the naked eye, and I aim to delve deeper into that realm called photography. The art of capturing what may or may not be there, it's a leap of faith to catch that perfect vision.
[Note: this camera is responsible for most of the photos on this blog!]

Day 99: Bay Watch

April 9, 2011
Drove out to Berkeley because of Rachel today and stopped by the Marina. I haven't been there in a while; it was windy, but the view of the Bay is breathtaking, just as I remember it. I actually can't imagine ever leaving this place.

Day 98: Fake Cake

April 8, 2011
Happy birthday UC Berkeley! Sproul Plaza was bustling with booths and whatnot celebrating the university's 143rd. These cupcakes (with blue and gold frosting) were passed out for free to passers-by. Unfortunately, the frosting was hard and gross. Well, it was free; can't complain. Nonetheless, happy birthday, Cal!

Day 97: Cute Deals

April 7, 2011
A friend and I visited Daiso, a Japanese convenience store that opened down on Telegraph not too long ago. Everything there, unless otherwise noted, is $1.50. Pretty good deals. But we just looked at all the cool stuff that they had in stock. Like this banana sponge that reminded me of the Peas in a Pod from "Toy Story 3." I'm feeling great to be virtually done with this week.

Day 96: Take Flight

April 6, 2011
I decided to resume studying in LeConte Hall, with the hopes that reviewing physics in the physics building would give me qi, or whatever you call it. I found this little walkway with birds painted on the glass panes. What I would give to feel this free. Screw air resistance. At least it helped calm my nerves.

Day 95: College Humor

April 5, 2011
Tracy and I couldn't help but laugh when we found this carved into my desk at Pimentel. You know you're at Berkeley (or any other institution of higher learning, in fact) when people start abbreviating mainstream song lyrics like so. This made my day though.

Day 94: Pleasure Reading

April 4, 2011
I don't remember the last time I got to do pleasure reading for a grade. I recently discovered that Disney's fairy tale rendition of "The Fox and the Hound" is radically different from the original novel; everything is absolutely, and even unnecessarily morbid. So for my fairy tales DeCal project, I decided to tackle this novel, while simultaneously making time for pleasure reading. It's like killing two birds with one stone! Or rather, shooting two dogs with one gun..

Day 93: Dad's Love

April 3, 2011
I love my dad. He ate at the dining commons yesterday, and he was pretty shocked at the quality of food, and he felt bad that I had to eat here all the time. So he came back and took me out to eat some authentic Korean food. I haven't had kalbi in a long time. That's my dad, always looking out for me. I respect him and love him more than he knows.

Day 92: Spring Web

April 2, 2011
I don't think I've ever bothered paying attention to spider webs before. Seeing this was pretty amazing, plus with the mist, or fog, whatever you want to call it, this photo has a spooky aura to it. The happiness of spring hasn't completely overwhelmed everything yet.

Day 91: Spring Cleaning

April 1, 2011
This squirrel was taking a bath while I was resting on campus today (it was too hot in Berkeley). I guess it's time to put the winter clothes away and bring out the spring/summer wear. Only a month and a half until summer! [I also pranked my sister and watched Batboy today.]
